Greetings, good people of Trinity Lutheran in Pleasanton!
On Sunday afternoon, a few of us from Trinity attended the Livermore-Pleasanton Interfaith Interconnect Thanksgiving service, this time hosted by our United Methodist friends in Livermore.
What a joy and wonder and sacred time it was, to enter into times of prayer, of singing, and of hearing from the sacred texts of other religious traditions in our area. The theme of the day was, you guessed it, thanksgiving! Well, not so much about Thursday the 27th, but more about the act and art of giving thanks and sharing appreciation.
The preacher for the day, a colleague of mine from the United Methodist church here in Pleasanton, invited us all to literally turn in our seats to greet each other and to say “Thank you!” for being present and caring of one another. So, in that same spirit, let me say just how grateful I am to serve as your pastor.
As I near the end of my second year with you all, I remain grateful for your good humor (even in the midst of my bad puns!), for your commitment to care and connection (and good Lutheran coffee!), and for finding ways throughout each Sunday and throughout the year to share the love of God that is so abundant in your hearts. I am blessed and humbled and grateful for who you are as Trinity Lutheran Church of Pleasanton, and it is a joy to be in this life together with you.
God’s Peace and Blessing be with you each on this Thanksgiving holiday. See you on Sunday for our first Sunday of Advent!
Go in peace. Christ is with you.
Thanks be to God!
